BAN 283/9 (50.0 Ovs) vs IND 370/4 (50.0 Ovs)

That's it from all of us here. A massive win for India to kick start their WC campaign, while Bangladesh will have a lot to reflect upon before their next game. We have a double header tomorrow, New Zealand take on Kenya in the morning and Sri Lanka take on Canada in the second game. This is Ajith signing off on behalf of Pradeep, Sid V and Srivathsa. Cheers, good night and keep your frown upside down.
Virender Sehwag: Yes, it was a good start. This was a revenge game and we did play well. When we came here, the press asked me about Bangladesh side and I told them that they are a good ODI side and we need to play well to win against them. Glad we did that. I was telling myself that I need to spend some time in the middle, thanks to my trainer and physio to get me fit for this game. Virat batted well and rotated the strike pretty well. Everybody has done well except Sreesanth, it happens.
MS Dhoni: There are a few departments where we need to improve, fielding is one such area. All good teams have a good fielding side, and we will work on it. Overall, it was quite a good performance from the batsmen and the bowlers. In the afternoon, the wicket was on the slower side, Viru and Virat carried their innings through, they batted till the end and ensured that we went on to post a big score. A lot depends on the kind of the start we get and we have to take it from there on. We have to minimize our mistakes or delay the mistakes. As a team, we fight injuries, whatever the niggles the bowlers or batsmen have they will get a chance to get back to fitness with this gap of 8 days.
Shakib: We bowled badly, we bowled a lot of boundary balls and that cost us the game. Credit to Virender Sehwag, he took the game away from us. Our fast bowlers were rusty and there are a couple of things to work on. We batted really well, we played sensible cricket and that's a positive. The crowd were superb today, hope they continue to support us.
Virender Sehwag is the Man of the Match for his match winning knock of 175.
Munaf Patel: Happy that we won the match, happy with my efforts too. I was concentrating on my line and length and my leg cutters. I tried to bowl slower balls in the death overs, I am happy with my fitness as well. The batsmen did their job and we did ours.
India have started their campaign with a comfortable win. Bangladesh lost their way after a furious start but it was always going to be a tall ask to maintain the tempo throughout the run chase. The ever improving Munaf provided the breakthrough initially when he sent back Kayes and Bangladesh were never really in the game after that despite fifties from Tamim and Shakib. The dew that was expected to play a part and influenced Shakib, to choose to bat first never really came in and Harbhajan aided by the back up spinners, kept the run rate under control quite easily. India will be looking to take this momentum into their next game while Bangladesh will have to pull up their socks very soon to bring some cheer to their passionate fans.
